Before you call

What to have ready

You do not need any of this to get an offer, but having it speeds things considerably.

About the vehicle

  • Year, make, model and trim
  • Approximate mileage
  • What the damage is and roughly where it sits
  • Whether it runs, and whether it rolls and steers
  • Photos, which are the single fastest way to a firm number

About the paperwork and location

  • Whether you have the California title in hand, and whose name is on it
  • Whether there is still a loan on the vehicle
  • The city and ZIP where the car is sitting right now

One less step than you may expect. Signing over an ordinary California title needs no notary. You sign where indicated and that is the whole of it, which is one step fewer than Arizona or Nevada. One procedure is different. If a vehicle is going onto a Nonrepairable Vehicle Certificate and you do not have the California title, the DMV asks for a notarized Application for Replacement or Transfer of Title, form REG 227, as the proof of ownership. That requirement belongs to that certificate. It is not a general rule for selling a car without a title, and it does not apply to an ordinary signed title at all.

If the car was already declared a total loss, bring the Salvage Certificate the DMV issued instead of the pink slip. REG 488C is the Application for Salvage Certificate or Nonrepairable Vehicle Certificate. It is the form that gets filed. What comes back from the DMV is the Salvage Certificate itself, and that is the document that takes the place of your pink slip.

What happens after you contact us

We respond during business hours, usually within a couple of hours. You get a written offer before any truck is dispatched. If you accept, most pickups happen within 24 to 48 hours, and you are paid in full at pickup before the vehicle leaves. The full process is here.

Where we pick up

Pickup is free everywhere we buy. Driveways, street parking, apartment and condo lots, storage facilities, body shops and tow yards are all routine.

Vehicle at a facility racking up storage fees? Say so when you call. That usually changes how quickly we should move.

For body shops, tow yards and dealers

If you handle damaged vehicles regularly and want a single buyer for the units that do not fit your model, contact John at john@trackwala.com or (678) 644-8343 about the TrackWala partner program.

Your wrecked car is worth more than a scrap quote
